Frequently asked questions

How do I create a hauling estimate?

Open Estimate, select delivery or removal, enter quantity, distance, work time, and disposal or material details, then review the cost breakdown and recommended selling price. Configure truck, trailer, and business settings first for better accuracy.

How do I change the truck, trailer, insurance, or fuel costs?

Open My Setup and choose the appropriate section. Enter monthly vehicle payments and insurance, fuel costs and consumption, per-mile reserves, and maintenance settings. Those values feed new estimates.

Where do I set landfill or dump fees?

Go to My Setup → Dump sites and fees. You can add locations with a base charge, a per-ton rate, a minimum per visit, and additional surcharges.

Can I adjust numbers without typing?

Yes. Numeric fields provide − and + step controls, and you can still tap the value to type a precise number. Use the keyboard's Done control when finished.

Can I export and email an estimate?

Yes. DUMPCMD generates PDF estimates and invoices. Select an export format and use the iOS Share Sheet to send it through an app you choose.

How do I calculate mileage from addresses?

Enter the job address on Estimate and save pickup and dump addresses in My Setup. Tap Calculate road mileage from addresses, find and confirm the matched locations, calculate the route, and apply the mileage. Removal uses job → dump → job; delivery uses pickup → job → pickup; combined jobs use pickup → job → dump → pickup. These are repeatable trip loops and exclude travel from or back to your base. Mileage stays editable, and work hours are unchanged. Recalculate after changing addresses or job type. Internet is required, and routes do not account for truck or trailer restrictions.

Are internal notes shared?

No. Internal notes stay in the app and are excluded from customer and internal PDFs. Customer PDFs show your company branding, job description, and total price.

Why does a payload or weight warning appear?

It means the estimate may exceed a user-entered rating or input. The app cannot determine legal or safe towing capacity. Check actual truck, hitch, trailer, axle, tire, tongue-weight, GCWR, and local road limits.

Where is my estimate history stored?

Saved estimates and equipment settings are stored locally in the app's data on your device. If you delete the app, local data is normally deleted too, unless a copy exists in a device backup or previously exported file.

Does the app require an account or internet connection?

No account or internet connection is needed for the estimating functions. Visiting this support website, sending an email, or using an online sharing destination does require network connectivity.

How do I return to the home screen?

Tap Home in the bottom navigation or the Home button at the top of the Estimate screen.

Before reporting a problem

Confirm that you're using the newest installed version, try closing and reopening the app, and check the inputs in My Setup. If the problem continues, send the steps needed to reproduce it and a screenshot if useful.

Your financial estimates and customer names aren't automatically sent to DUMPCMD support. Please share only the information necessary to explain a problem.
